The THHN 6 gauge building wire is a stranded type conductor in green color, designed for use in conduit and cable trays for services, feeders, and branch circuits in commercial or industrial applications, in accordance with the 2008 National Electrical Code. This wire is suitable for dry locations with a maximum temperature of 90 °C when used as THHN, or for both wet and dry locations not exceeding 90 °C or 75 °C when exposed to oil as THWN-2 or TWN75. When designated as MTW, it can be used in wet locations or when exposed to oil at 60 °C, or in dry locations up to 90 °C, with ampacity limited to that of a 75 °C conductor per NFPA 79. The conductor can withstand temperatures up to 105 °C in dry locations when rated AWM or used as T90 nylon. It is rated for 600 volts and may be installed without the need for pulling lubricant. The wire complies with all applicable ASTM specifications and UL standards including UL 83, UL 1581, UL standard 1063 (MTW), CSA, CUL, NOM-ANCE 90 °C, and federal specification A-A-59544. It meets VW-1 standards for sizes 14 through 1 AWG, CT for sizes 1/0 AWG and larger, and FT1 for sizes through 500 KCMIL, with T90 nylon and TWN 75 standards applicable to sizes through 500 KCMIL. The wire is RoHS compliant, sunlight resistant, and marked and listed in all colors for 2 AWG and larger. The construction consists of annealed (soft) copper conductors that are unilay compressed strand, insulated with a durable heat and moisture resistant polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and covered with a SIM (SlikQwik® infused membrane) nylon (polyamide) or an equivalent UL recognized jacket.
