Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters up to 60 HP or 80 A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To choose the correct starter, it is essential to refer to the motor nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage and determine if the motor operates on single-phase or three-phase power. The starter selected must be rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA. Options include control power to close the contactor, and the overload is chosen based on a current range that encompasses the motor's FLA. Further optional criteria for selection are the incoming power configuration, which can be a direct-online starter or one with separate control voltage. If it requires activation from an external switch, remote start terminals can be added, assuming line and control voltages are the same or addressing different voltages as necessary.
