Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters with capacities of up to 60HP or 80A. Each assembled motor starter includes a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the proper starter, verify the full load amperage (FLA) on the motor or equipment nameplate based on the input voltage and confirm whether the motor operates on 1-phase or 3-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA, and select the control power used to close the contactor. Choose the overload by selecting a current range that includes the motor's FLA. Additional selection options include the type of incoming power, where a "direct-online starter" uses line power for control, whereas "separate control voltage" indicates different line and control voltages. For activation via an external switch, remote start terminals are added, which assume that the line voltage and control voltage are the same; if not, the configuration is referred to as "separate control voltage + remote start terminals." This particular model features 80A 3-phase separate coil voltage, remote start terminals, a reset button, and operates with a 100-250V AC/DC coil with a 65-78A overload, all housed within a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
