Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the proper starter, verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage from the motor or equipment nameplate, confirming whether it is 1-phase or 3-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current higher than the FLA of the motor, select the control power used to close the contactor, and select an overload by choosing a current range that contains the FLA. The selection should be narrowed to options suitable for the motor and power requirements, based on criteria such as incoming power; either a "direct-online starter" if the line power is used as control power or a "separate control voltage" if they differ. If an external switch is used for activation, remote start terminals can be added, which assumes line and control voltages are the same, or can be configured as "separate control voltage + remote start terminals" if the voltages differ. Features include 9A 3-phase direct online start/stop, 250-500V AC/DC coil, and 3.1-4.2A overload relay, all within a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
