Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the proper starter, refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the specified input voltage, confirming whether it is 1-phase or 3-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current higher than the FLA of the motor. Next, select the control power used to close the contactor and choose the overload by selecting a current range that includes the FLA from the previous step. The selection can be further refined based on incoming power; for example, if the line power will also be used as control power, it is referred to as a "direct-on-line starter." If the control voltage differs from the line voltage, it is considered "separate control voltage." If the starter needs to be activated by an external switch, terminals are added for control power input, known as "remote start terminals." The featured model includes 9A 3-phase separate coil voltage with remote start terminals, a reset button, a 100-250V AC/DC coil, and a 1.7-2.3A overload relay, all housed in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
