Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters consist of a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, first refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage, confirming whether it is 1-phase or 3-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA of the motor, and select the control power used to close the contactor. The overload should be chosen based on a current range that encompasses the motor’s FLA. Additional selection criteria include the type of incoming power: if the line power serves as the control power as well, it is designated as a "direct-online starter"; if the control voltage differs from the line voltage, it is classified as "separate control voltage"; if the starter requires activation from an external switch, terminals are added for control power input, known as "remote start terminals." For configurations that involve different line and control voltages, the setup is referred to as "separate control voltage + remote start terminals." The features of the motor starter include 9A 3-phase remote start terminals, a reset button, a coil rating of 250-500V AC/DC, and an overload rating of 2.3-3.1A, all housed within a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
