Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters designed for applications up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate based on the supplied input voltage, ensuring to confirm whether it operates on single-phase or three-phase power. The starter must be rated for a current (amps) higher than the FLA. Additional considerations include the control power used to activate the contactor, and selecting the overload relay based on a current range that accommodates the motor's FLA. Options for selection include direct-online starters if the line power will also serve as control power, separate control voltage configurations, and arrangements for remote start terminals if an external switch is used.
