Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters suitable for applications up to 60HP or 80A. Each assembled motor starter includes a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. When selecting the appropriate starter, it is essential to refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the supplied input voltage, confirming whether the motor operates on 1 phase or 3 phase power. The starter must be rated for current higher than the motor's FLA. The control power used to close the contactor also needs to be determined, along with the appropriate overload by selecting a current range that encompasses the motor's FLA. Optional criteria for selection include the type of incoming power; for example, if line power serves as control power, it is known as a "direct-online starter," whereas differing line and control voltages require "separate control voltage" considerations. Additionally, if activation from an external switch is desired, remote start terminals can be added, which assumes that line and control voltages are the same unless specified otherwise. The features of these starters include a 12A 3 phase separate control voltage start/stop capability, a 24-60V AC/DC coil, and an overload relay rated between 5.7A and 7.6A, all within a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
