Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters up to 60 HP or 80 A. Assembled motor starters consist of a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the proper starter for your requirements, verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage from the motor or equipment nameplate, and confirm whether it is single-phase or three-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA of your motor. The control power used to close the contactor must be selected, along with an overload that contains the motor FLA. The optional criteria for selection include incoming power configuration, which can be a "direct-online starter" if line power is used for control, or a "separate control voltage" if not. For activation from an external switch, "remote start terminals" can be added, with assumptions made regarding line and control voltage. The features of this specific starter include a rating of 12 A, 3 phase, separate control voltage with remote start terminals, start/stop functionality, a 24-60 V AC/DC coil, and an overload relay rated at 10-13 A, designed to meet NEMA 4X polycarbonate standards.
