Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters suitable for applications up to 60 HP or 80 A. Each assembled motor starter includes a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, it is essential to verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate based on the input voltage supplied, confirming if it is 1-phase or 3-phase. The starter must be rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA. The control power for closing the contactor should also be specified, along with selecting an overload that captures the FLA range. Optional criteria include the incoming power, where a "direct-online starter" uses line power for control, while "separate control voltage" indicates differing line and control voltages. For external activation, starters can be equipped with remote start terminals, which assume line and control voltages are identical unless specified as "separate control voltage + remote start terminals."
