Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters up to 60HP or 80A. Assembled motor starters consist of a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the proper starter for your requirements, first refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage you will supply, confirming whether it is 1-phase or 3-phase power to the motor. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA of your motor. Next, select the control power used to close the contactor and choose the overload by selecting a current range that contains the FLA of the motor. From there, you can narrow down the starters to only options suitable for your motor and power requirements. Additional selection criteria include incoming power; if the line power will be used as the control power, this is a "direct-online starter." Otherwise, if the control voltage differs from the line voltage, this is classified as "separate control voltage." If external activation from a switch is needed, terminals can be added to accept the control power input from that switch, termed "remote start terminals." Assuming the line voltage and control voltage are the same, if you need remote start terminals with different voltages for line and control power, this is known as "separate control voltage + remote start terminals." The features include 12A 3-phase remote start terminals, a reset button, a 100-250V AC/DC coil, and a 2.3-3.1A overload relay within a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
