Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters capable of handling up to 60HP or 80A. These assembled motor starters include a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, first refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage, confirming whether the supply is single-phase or three-phase power. The chosen starter must have a current rating higher than the FLA of the motor. Next, select the control power for closing the contactor and choose the overload by selecting a current range that includes the FLA. Further selection can be based on incoming power options: a "Direct-On-Line starter" uses line power as control power; "Separate Control Voltage" indicates different voltages for line and control; and for activation from an external switch, "Remote Start Terminals" can be added, assuming the control and line voltages are the same. If remote start terminals are used with separate voltages for line and control power, this is referred to as "Separate Control Voltage + Remote Start Terminals." Key features include 12A 3-phase remote start terminals, a reset button, a coil rated for 250-500V AC/DC, and overload protection ranging from 5.7-7.6A in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
