Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters suitable for motors up to 60 HP or 80 A. Each assembled motor starter includes a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the correct starter for your application, first verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate at the input voltage being supplied, ensuring to confirm if it is 1-phase or 3-phase power. The starter should be rated for a current (amps) higher than the FLA of the motor. Next, choose the control power for closing the contactor and select the overload based on a current range that encompasses the FLA identified previously. Optional criteria for selection include: if the line power is also used as control power, it is classified as a "direct-online starter"; if the control voltage differs from the line voltage, it is noted as "separate control voltage"; if activation from an external switch is required, terminals are provided for that purpose, referred to as "remote start terminals." If remote start terminals are needed while using different voltages for line and control power, it is specified as "separate control voltage + remote start terminals." The motor starter features include a 12 A 3-phase configuration, a separate coil voltage reset button, a coil voltage rating of 250-500 V AC/DC, and an overload range of 5.7-7.6 A, all housed in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
