Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters capable of handling up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, first verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate based on the input voltage supplied, noting whether the power is single-phase or three-phase. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA of your motor, then select the control power for the contactor operation and the overload based on a range that accommodates the FLA. Optional criteria to consider include incoming power type, which may involve a direct-on-line starter if the line power also serves as control power, or a separate control voltage if they differ. Remote start terminals can be added for activation from an external switch, applicable in cases where line and control voltage are the same, or if different voltages are used. The features of the starter include a 12A capacity, support for three-phase systems, direct online operation, a reset button, a coil rating of 250-500V AC/DC, and an overload relay rated for 2.3-3.1A, all housed within a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
