Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters suitable for applications up to 60HP or 80A. These assembled motor starters include a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the required input voltage, confirming whether the motor operates on 1 phase or 3 phase power. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA of the motor. The control power used to close the contactor must also be identified. The overload should be selected based on a current range that accommodates the FLA from the previous step. Optional criteria for selection include the type of incoming power, which can be a "direct-online starter" if line power is also used as control power, or "separate control voltage" if different. For activation via an external switch, terminals can be added for control power input, referred to as "remote start terminals." The starters feature a 12A 1 phase with a separate control voltage reset button, a 24-60V AC/DC coil, and a 10-13A overload relay, all housed in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
