Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, overheating relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage from the motor or equipment nameplate and confirm whether it is 1-phase or 3-phase power. It is recommended to choose a starter rated for current higher than the FLA of the motor. The control power used to close the contactor must also be chosen, along with selecting the overload by identifying a current range that includes the motor's FLA. Optional criteria for selection include incoming power configurations, such as a "direct-online starter" if the line power is used as control power, or "separate control voltage" if they differ. For activation from an external switch, remote start terminals can be added to accept control power input; this assumes that line voltage and control voltage are the same. If different voltages are to be used, it would be referred to as "separate control voltage + remote start terminals." Key features of the starter include 12A 1-phase separate control voltage start/stop with a 24-60V AC/DC coil and 7.6-10A overload protection, all housed in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
