Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters up to 60HP or 80A. Each assembled motor starter includes a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage from the motor or equipment nameplate, ensuring whether it is 1-phase or 3-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA, select the control power to close the contactor, and pick an overload that includes the FLA within its current range. The starters can be categorized based on options for incoming power, which include direct-on-line for same voltage, separate control voltage, or remote start terminals for external switch activation. If utilizing different line and control voltages with remote start terminals, this is classified as separate control voltage plus remote start terminals.
