Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters up to 60hp or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the proper starter, reference the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage. Confirm whether it is 1-phase or 3-phase power and choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA. The control power used to close the contactor and the overload current range must be selected based on the motor's FLA. Optional criteria include incoming power configurations: direct-online starter if line power is used as control power, separate control voltage if different, and remote start terminals for activating the starter from an external switch.
