Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters with capacities up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, refer to the motor nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the required input voltage and confirm whether the motor operates on 1-phase or 3-phase power. Choose a starter rated for a current (amps) greater than the FLA of your motor. The control power needed to close the contactor must then be chosen, followed by selecting the overload based on a current range that encompasses the FLA identified. Optional criteria for selection include the type of incoming power, where a "direct-online starter" assumes line power serves as control power, while "separate control voltage" indicates a different control voltage. For activation from an external switch, remote start terminals can be added, which assumes matching line and control voltage unless specified otherwise. Key features of the motors include a rating of 16A, 3-phase operation, remote start terminals, start/stop functionality, and compatibility with a 250-500V AC/DC coil along with 5.7-7.6A overload protection, all within a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
