These assembled motor starters consist of a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To ensure the correct selection of a starter for your application, first verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate, taking note of whether it operates on single-phase or three-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) that exceeds the FLA. Control power options include a direct-on-line starter where line power also serves as control power, or a separate control voltage if they differ. For activation via an external switch, remote start terminals can be included, assuming aligned line and control voltages or allowing for separate control voltage alongside remote start terminals.
