Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters rated up to 60HP or 80A. Each assembled motor starter comprises a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To appropriately select a starter, first verify the motor’s full load amperage (FLA) and confirm the type of power supply as either 1-phase or 3-phase. It is essential to choose a starter with a current rating higher than the FLA. Additionally, select the control power for closing the contactor and choose the overload relay based on a current range that contains the FLA. Optional criteria for selection include incoming power, which can be categorized as a "direct-online starter" if the line power also serves as control power or as "separate control voltage" if different. For activation via an external switch, remote start terminals can be added, and if using different voltages, this combination is referred to as "separate control voltage + remote start terminals." Key features include a 16A 3-phase separate coil voltage with remote start terminals, start/stop functionality, a 250-500V AC/DC coil, and an overload relay rated at 7.6-10A, all housed in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
