Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters with a capacity of up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, it is crucial to verify the full load amperage (FLA) on the motor or equipment nameplate at the supplied input voltage, and confirm whether the motor operates on 1-phase or 3-phase power. The starter must be rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA of the motor. The control power for closing the contactor must also be chosen, and the overload should be selected from a current range that includes the FLA determined earlier. Optional criteria for selection include incoming power type, where a "direct-online starter" indicates the line power is used for control power, while a "separate control voltage" indicates differing line and control voltages. For activation from an external switch, "remote start terminals" can be added, assuming the line and control voltages are the same, or designated as "separate control voltage + remote start terminals" if different voltages are used. The features of the motor starter include 16A rating, 1-phase operation, direct online configuration, a reset button only, and a 100-250V AC/DC coil with an overload range of 13-16A, all housed in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
