Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters suitable for applications up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To properly select a starter, one should verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate at the supplied input voltage, confirming whether the application is 1-phase or 3-phase power. It is important to choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA. The control power used to close the contactor must also be chosen, and the overload must be selected from a current range that includes the motor's FLA. Additional criteria for selection include the incoming power: if line power is also used for control, it is termed a "direct-online starter"; if the control voltage differs from line voltage, it is referred to as "separate control voltage." For activation from an external switch, the starter can include remote start terminals, which assume the same line and control voltage. The key features of the motor starter are 16A 1-phase remote start terminals, a reset button, a 100-250V AC/DC coil, a 5.7-7.6A overload, and a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
