These assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, it is essential to refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage, confirming whether it is single-phase or three-phase power. The starter should be rated for a current higher than the FLA of the motor. Additionally, the control power used to close the contactor must be determined, and the overload should be selected based on a current range that contains the FLA. Optional criteria for selection include the type of incoming power, which can be categorized as "direct-online starter," "separate control voltage," or configurations that involve remote start terminals.
