Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters up to 60HP or 80A. Assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the proper starter, refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage, ensuring to confirm if it is single-phase or three-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA of your motor and select the control power used to close the contactor. The overload should be selected based on a current range that encompasses the FLA of the motor. Optional criteria for selection include incoming power type; direct-online starter if line power is used as control power, separate control voltage if the control voltage differs from the line voltage, and remote start terminals if activation will be from an external switch.
