Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters designed for applications up to 60 hp or 80 A. These assembled motor starters include a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor nameplate at the input voltage intended for supply, ensuring to check if the motor operates on single-phase or three-phase power. It is important to choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA of the motor. The control power used to energize the contactor must also be selected, followed by the selection of the overload relay based on a current range that encompasses the FLA identified previously. Optional criteria for selection include the incoming power configuration: if the line power serves as the control power, it is designated as a "direct-online starter." In cases where the line voltage differs from the control voltage, it is categorized as "separate control voltage." Additionally, if activation from an external switch is required, terminals for control power input can be added, referred to as "remote start terminals," which presumes the line voltage and control voltage are identical. If different voltages are employed for line and control power while still needing remote start terminals, it is identified as "separate control voltage + remote start terminals." The specific features of the motor starter include a rating of 16 A, operation with 1 phase, a separate coil voltage, a reset button, a coil voltage range of 100-250V AC/DC, and an overload relay rated at 16-20 A, all encapsulated in a NEMA 4X poly enclosure.
