Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters suitable for applications up to 60HP or 80A. Each assembled motor starter includes a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage being supplied and confirm whether the motor operates on 1-phase or 3-phase power. It is necessary to choose a starter rated for a current (amps) higher than the FLA of the motor. Additionally, select the control power used to close the contactor and choose the overload by selecting a current range that encompasses the FLA determined previously. Optional criteria include: incoming power, where line power can also serve as control power, referred to as "direct-online starter," or when the control voltage differs from line voltage, termed "separate control voltage." If the starter needs activation from an external switch, "remote start terminals" can be added to accept the control power input from that switch. In cases where remote start terminals are needed and different voltages for line and control power are used, this configuration is noted as "separate control voltage + remote start terminals." Key features include a 26A 3-phase direct online reset button, a 250-500V AC/DC coil, and a 16-20A overload relay, all compliant with NEMA 4X specifications.
