Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters up to 60HP or 80A. Assembled motor starters consist of a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To properly select a starter, refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage, confirming whether it is 1-phase or 3-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA of the motor, select the control power used to close the contactor, and choose the overload by selecting a current range that includes the FLA. For additional selection criteria, consider the incoming power; this can be a "direct-online starter" if the line power is also the control power, or a "separate control voltage" if the voltage differs. Remote start terminals can be added if the starter needs activation from an external switch, assuming the line and control voltages are the same, or if using different voltages, this configuration is referred to as "separate control voltage + remote start terminals." Key features include a 26A 3-phase separate control voltage reset button, a 24-60V AC/DC coil, and a 10-13A overload relay, all housed in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
