Springer Controls manufactures a comprehensive range of IEC enclosed AC motor starters designed for applications up to 60HP or 80A. Each assembled motor starter includes a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to confirm the full load amperage (FLA) at the required input voltage, noting whether the system operates on 1-phase or 3-phase power. The chosen starter should have a current rating higher than the FLA of the motor. Additionally, it is necessary to determine the control power for closing the contactor and select an overload range that includes the FLA. Optional criteria for selection include the incoming power configuration: “direct-online starter” if line power is used as control power, “separate control voltage” if the control voltage differs from the line voltage, or the inclusion of “remote start terminals” for activation via an external switch, assuming the line and control voltages are the same. The starter can be customized further with features such as 26A 1-phase separate coil voltage combined with remote start terminals, a start/stop capability, and a coil rating of 100-250V AC/DC, alongside a 20-24A overload relay to suit specific application needs.
