Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters designed to handle up to 60HP or 80A. Each assembled motor starter includes a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. When selecting the appropriate starter, it is essential to verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate according to the input voltage supplied, ensuring to note whether it is single-phase or three-phase power. The starter should be rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA of the motor. Control power for closing the contactor must be chosen, and the overload should correspond to a current range that encompasses the FLA identified earlier. The starters can be further customized based on optional criteria such as incoming power—where a "direct-online starter" configuration uses line power for control voltage, while "separate control voltage" indicates different voltage levels. The option for remote start terminals allows activation from an external switch, with configurations available for both identical and dissimilar line and control voltages.
