Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters with capacities up to 60HP or 80A. Each assembled motor starter includes a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter for your needs, first verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate at the supplied input voltage, confirming whether it operates on single-phase or three-phase power. It is essential to choose a starter rated for a current higher than the FLA of the motor. Selection criteria include the control power for closing the contactor and the overload current range that encompasses the FLA identified previously. Optional criteria for starter selection involve incoming power types, where direct-online starters utilize line power for control, while separate control voltage applications differ, needing additional terminals for external switch activation referred to as remote start terminals.
