Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters designed for operation up to 60HP or 80A. Each assembled motor starter includes a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, reference the motor nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the supplied input voltage and confirm whether it is 1-phase or 3-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current higher than the FLA. The selection process also involves determining the control power for closing the contactor and selecting an overload with a current range that encompasses the FLA. Optional criteria for selecting the starter include whether the incoming power serves as control power (direct-online starter), whether the control voltage differs from the line voltage (separate control voltage), or if remote start terminals are needed for activation from an external switch, which may be combined with separate control voltage. This specific starter features a 38A rating for 3-phase operation, a separate coil voltage with a reset button, and operates within a coil range of 250-500V AC/DC, along with a 29-35A overload capability, all within the durable NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
