Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters suitable for applications up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the proper starter, refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage, and confirm whether the motor requires single-phase or three-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) that exceeds the FLA of the motor. The selection process also includes specifying the control power for the contactor, and selecting the overload by choosing a current range that encompasses the FLA identified earlier. The starter can be configured based on several criteria: if line power is utilized as control power, it is referred to as a "direct-online starter"; if the control voltage differs from line voltage, this is termed "separate control voltage." Additionally, if activation will occur from an external switch, remote start terminals can be added to accept control power input. If utilizing remote start terminals with varying line and control voltages, this configuration is termed "separate control voltage + remote start terminals." The key features of the offering include a 38A 1 phase separate control voltage start/stop, a 24-60V AC/DC coil, and a 35-40A overload relay within a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
