Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters with ratings up to 60HP or 80A. Each assembled motor starter includes a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the supplied input voltage, ensuring to confirm whether the motor operates on 1-phase or 3-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA of the motor and select the control power for closing the contactor. The overload should fall within a current range that contains the FLA. Optional selection criteria include whether the incoming power will also serve as control power, which defines the starter type as either "direct-online starter" or "separate control voltage." For activation from an external switch, the option for remote start terminals is available, with assumptions made about the line and control voltage being the same unless otherwise specified.
