Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters with ratings up to 60HP or 80A. These assembled motor starters include a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate at the supplied input voltage, confirming whether it is single-phase or three-phase power. Choose a starter rated at a higher current than the FLA, select the control power for the contactor actuation, and determine the overload by selecting a current range that includes the FLA. Additional criteria include choosing between a "direct-online starter," where line power serves as control power, or "separate control voltage," if different. For setups requiring activation from an external switch, the starter can be equipped with remote start terminals.
