Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters designed for motors up to 60 HP or 80 A. Each assembled motor starter includes a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, you should first verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate at the input voltage, confirming whether it is 1-phase or 3-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current higher than the FLA. Additionally, select the control power for closing the contactor and choose an overload based on a current range that encompasses the FLA. Optional criteria for selection include incoming power configuration: use "direct-online starter" if line power also serves as control power, or "separate control voltage" if different voltages are used. For external activation via a switch, you can select models with "remote start terminals," with the assumption that line and control voltages are the same, or "separate control voltage + remote start terminals" if they differ. Key features include a 52 A 3-phase direct online start/stop, 250-500 V AC/DC coil, and 36-47 A overload protection, all housed in a durable NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
