Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters rated up to 60HP or 80A. Each assembled motor starter consists of a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the proper starter, verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate at the input voltage, confirming whether the motor operates on 1-phase or 3-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA. The control power used to close the contactor is also essential, as is selecting the overload by choosing a current range that encompasses the FLA. The optional criteria include types of incoming power; a direct-online starter uses line power as control power, while a separate control voltage means the control voltage differs from the line voltage. Remote start terminals can be added for activation from an external switch; if the line and control voltages differ, it is classified as separate control voltage with remote start terminals. The motor starter features include a 52A 3-phase direct online reset button, a coil voltage range of 250-500V AC/DC, and a 25-33A overload capacity, all housed within a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
