Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the proper starter, it is crucial to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage from the motor or equipment nameplate, ensuring to confirm whether the power is 1-phase or 3-phase. It is recommended to choose a starter rated for current higher than the FLA of the motor. The control power used to close the contactor must also be determined, and the overload should be selected based on a current range that encompasses the FLA. The optional criteria for selection include incoming power configurations, such as direct-online starters or separate control voltage, as well as the need for remote start terminals if the starter requires activation from an external switch.
