Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters designed for applications up to 60HP or 80A. These assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, first refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) based on the input voltage, ensuring to confirm whether the motor operates on 1-phase or 3-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) exceeding the FLA of the motor. The control power used to close the contactor must also be selected, along with the overload, which should accommodate a current range that includes the FLA determined earlier. Further selection criteria include the type of incoming power: for a direct-online starter where line power serves as control power, or a separate control voltage if they differ. For activation from an external switch, terminals for the control power input can be added, known as remote start terminals. The featured product includes a 52A 3-phase configuration, separate control voltage, remote start terminals, and a start/stop 24-60V AC/DC coil with a 25-33A overload relay, all encapsulated within a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
