Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters designed for capacities up to 60 HP or 80 A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate at the input voltage, confirming whether the motor operates on 1-phase or 3-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current higher than the FLA, and select the control power for closing the contactor. The overload relay should be chosen based on a current range that encompasses the motor's FLA. Optional criteria for selection include whether the incoming power acts as the control power (direct-online starter) or if separate control voltage is needed. If external switch activation is required, remote start terminals can be added for control power input, with considerations for whether line voltage and control voltage are the same or different. Key features include a 52 A three-phase separate coil voltage start/stop capability, compatible with 250-500 V AC/DC coils, and a 30-40 A overload relay, all housed in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
