Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters suitable for applications up to 60 HP or 80 A. Assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, users should first refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage, confirming whether it is set for single-phase or three-phase power. It is important to choose a starter rated for current higher than the FLA. The next steps involve selecting the control power used to close the contactor and choosing the overload by selecting a current range that encompasses the motor’s FLA. Optional criteria include whether the incoming power will also serve as control power, which designates it as a "direct-online starter," or if a different control voltage will be employed, denoting "separate control voltage." Additionally, if the starter requires activation from an external switch, terminals can be added for remote control, referred to as "remote start terminals." If both line and control voltages differ, the arrangement is termed "separate control voltage + remote start terminals." Key features include a 52 A three-phase separate control voltage start/stop with a 24-60 V AC/DC coil and a 25-33 A overload relay, all housed in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
