Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, first verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate based on the input voltage supplied, ensuring to note if it is single-phase or three-phase power. The starter should be rated for a current higher than the motor's FLA. Choose the control power for closing the contactor and select the overload based on a current range that encompasses the FLA. Optional criteria include whether to use line power as control power, referred to as a "direct-online starter," or if a separate control voltage is required. For activating the starter from an external switch, terminals can be added for remote start terminals, which is assumed to operate with the same line and control voltage unless specified otherwise.
