Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters rated up to 60HP or 80A. Each assembled motor starter includes a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage, ensuring to confirm if it is 1-phase or 3-phase power. It is essential to choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA of the motor and select the control power used to close the contactor. The overload should be chosen by selecting a current range that encompasses the FLA from the motor. Additionally, select the starter based on optional criteria such as incoming power configuration—whether utilizing a direct-online starter, separate control voltage, or remote start terminals for activation from an external switch. This configuration assumes the line voltage and control voltage are the same unless specified for separate control voltage with remote start terminals.
