Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters with capacities up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the supplied input voltage, and confirm whether the power is 1-phase or 3-phase. It is essential to choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA of the motor. The control power for closing the contactor must also be selected, and the overload should be chosen from a current range that encompasses the FLA determined earlier. Additional criteria for selection include deciding if the line power will serve as the control power (direct-online starter) or if a separate control voltage will be utilized. The option for remote start terminals allows for activation from an external switch, with the assumption that line voltage and control voltage are the same unless specified otherwise. Key features include a 52A 1-phase separate control voltage, remote start terminals, and start/stop functionality with a 24-60V AC/DC coil, along with an overload of 44-53A, all housed in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
