To select the proper starter for your requirements, verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage on the motor or equipment nameplate, ensuring you confirm whether it is 1-phase or 3-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current higher than the FLA of your motor, select the control power used to close the contactor, and then choose the overload by selecting a current range that contains the FLA of the motor. When narrowing down the options, consider the incoming power type; if the line power will be used as the control power, select a "direct-online starter." If the control voltage differs from the line voltage, it is considered "separate control voltage," and if activation from an external switch is needed, add terminals for "remote start terminals."
