Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters accommodating motors up to 60HP or 80A. Each assembled motor starter includes a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor's nameplate, ensuring you account for whether the motor operates on 1-phase or 3-phase power. It is essential to choose a starter rated for current higher than the motor's FLA and to select the control power that will close the contactor. The overload must be chosen based on a current range that encompasses the FLA identified earlier. Optional criteria for selection include the type of incoming power, which may consist of a direct-online starter or a separate control voltage configuration, and the presence of remote start terminals for external switch activation.
