Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters up to 60HP or 80A. Assembled motor starters consist of a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the proper starter, verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage from the motor or equipment nameplate, confirming whether it is 1-phase or 3-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current higher than the FLA. Select the control power used to close the contactor and the overload by choosing a current range containing the FLA from the previous step. Optional criteria for selection include incoming power, with options for "direct-online starter" if line power is used as control power or "separate control voltage" if they differ. "Remote start terminals" can be added for activation from an external switch, which assumes the line voltage and control voltage are the same. If using different voltages for line and control power with remote start terminals, it is referred to as "separate control voltage + remote start terminals." Key features of the starters include a rating of 65A, 3-phase operation, direct online functionality, start/stop capability, and a coil operating range of 250-500V AC/DC, with an overload rating of 44-53A, all housed in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
