Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters suitable for motors up to 60HP or 80A. These assembled motor starters consist of a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To ensure a proper selection of the starter, it is important to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage from the motor or equipment nameplate and confirm whether the power supply is single-phase or three-phase. The starter should be rated for a current higher than the FLA of the motor, and the control power used to close the contactor must be chosen accordingly. The overload relay is selected by choosing a current range that encompasses the FLA determined earlier. Additional criteria include selecting incoming power: if the line power is also used as control power, it is classified as a "direct-online starter," whereas "separate control voltage" is used if the control voltage differs from the line voltage. For activation from an external switch, "remote start terminals" are provided, and if different voltages are used for line and control power, the configuration is termed "separate control voltage + remote start terminals." The key features of the starter include a 65A rating, 3-phase operation, remote start terminals, start/stop functionality, a 100-250V AC/DC coil, and an overload relay rating of 44-53A, all housed in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
