Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters designed for motors up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor's nameplate, ensuring to confirm whether it operates on single-phase or three-phase power. The starter chosen should have a higher current rating than the FLA. Select the control power needed to close the contactor and choose an overload relay with a current range that encompasses the motor's FLA. Additional criteria for selection include the type of incoming power: a "direct-online starter" uses line power as control power, while "separate control voltage" refers to differing line and control voltages. If activation from an external switch is required, remote start terminals can be added, with the assumption that line and control voltages match. If different voltages are used, it combines "separate control voltage" with "remote start terminals."
