Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters with ratings up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters consist of a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the proper starter, users should verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage from the motor or equipment nameplate, ensuring to confirm whether it is 1-phase or 3-phase power. The selected starter must be rated for a current (amps) higher than the FLA of the motor. Control power for closing the contactor should be chosen, and the overload must be selected from a current range that encompasses the FLA. Optional criteria for the starter include the type of incoming power; direct-online starters use line power for control, while separate control voltage configurations require different voltages for control and line power. Additional configurations allow for remote start terminals if activation from an external switch is necessary.
